Mother’s Day will be different this year.
The global pandemic is upending traditions and canceling plans, but here is what I wish for you moms on your day:
May you be in a headspace where you can appreciate simplicity.
May you be in a heartspace where you can give yourself grace.
May your kids give you more hugs than attitude.
May you have the chance to drink your coffee while it’s still hot.
May the sun shine and fill you with hope.
May fresh air feel like a fresh start.
May you honor your health with big, deep breaths.
May screen time give you a beautiful break.
May your home still feel like a comfort.
May breakfast in bed include a mimosa.
May you know that you’re doing a great job.
May messes feel like the aftermath of fun times.
May you forgive yourself for losing your shit by 9 a.m.
May you remember that you’ll miss some things about this time someday.
May you not feel guilty for missing the way things used to be.
May you let go of expectations.
May naps happen.
May you feel stunning in your leggings and ponytail.
May you make time for something that brings you joy.
May you see the good.
May you feel loved.
Happy beautiful, complicated, unusual, messy, hard, wonderful Mother’s Day to you all!
