The days are getting colder and the nights are getting longer — is it any wonder we tend to hunker down and crave time with loved ones and comfort food this time of year?
GET COOKIN’
From chili to mac and cheese to the turkey, stuffing and pie of Thanksgiving, our food takes a decidedly heartier turn this month. And we’re all about it! Let your kids help cook up your favorite comfort foods. Sure, it’ll probably take longer and be a little — or a lot — messier, but they’ll have a blast, and maybe gain a better appreciation for the food on their table.
SETTLE IN
As the holidays approach, time seems to speed up. So take an evening, or a whole weekend, to ignore the to-dos and just relax. Put on your PJs. Bust out some board games or pop in a movie. Talk, laugh, unwind and enjoy a little well-deserved down time.
MOVE IT
Of course, we can’t laze away every day! Fight the urge to completely hibernate and get up and move. Take a walk in the brisk fall air (which is only going to get colder when the snow comes). Or sign the family up for a Thanksgiving race — there are turkey trots and holiday 5Ks across the state to offset all the month’s indulging.
