The end of summer, the start of school — September is surely a shift, and always feels like a fresh start. Here are three simple ways to enjoy this extra-special month.
STOP AND SMELL THE SCHOOL SUPPLIES
Whether you’ve already checked everything off the supplies list or you’re years away from needing to back-to-school shop, you’ve surely noticed all the folders, binders, backpacks and markers filling the store aisles. Take a minute to take a whiff of the crayons and No. 2 pencils. Smell is one of our most transporting senses — we bet it’ll take you back to the nervousness and excitement of standing on the brink of a new school year.
CHILL OUT
It’s hard to predict, or even pinpoint, when it happens. But all of a sudden in September, a sunny, seventy-degree day doesn’t feel like summer anymore. There’s a crispness to the air, and it’s absolutely delicious. Throw open the windows. Take a long walk. Spend the afternoon at a park. Do anything in this fresh air because, as we all know, full-on sweater weather’s just around the corner.
GET YOUR GAME ON
We admit, there’s something special about cheering on the Packers when the tundra’s truly frozen. But you’re hardly a fair-weather fan for preferring to catch a game at the start of the season. So throw on your green and gold and make your way to Lambeau. Or jump around with the Badgers at Camp Randall. Or, heck, just head to the nearest high school to catch the Friday night lights action. There’s no wrong way to enjoy a little football in the fall.
