“It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade. ”
This sentiment by Charles Dickens especially holds true in Wisconsin! Enjoy the first day of spring on March 19th, and these fun ways to mark the month.
• Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. There is so much to do with your loved ones — Irish or not — such as watching an Irish movie, dancing to Irish music, eating Irish food or eating something green!
• Hike a Wisconsin state park trail. I feel my children learn so much during this time of year out and about nature.
• Visit a cheese maker! Cheese is what Wisconsin’s known for, right? Take a tour to teach your children about different varieties, tastes and textures and where our delicious cheese comes from.
• Take part in March Madness. Fill out a family-friendly bracket, make signs and cheer on your favorite college basketball team from home! Or go out and play some basketball yourself.
• Tap into the maple sugaring season. Lots of nature centers offer kid-focused events that explain this springtime activity.
