I hope someday you get to meet the person I am on vacation. She’s pretty great.
Vacation Me makes the most of her days. Up early to run? Breakfast on the patio? Checking out a new museum? Reading a great book? Drinks at sunset? Vacation Me is up for all of this, and more!
This better version of myself seeks out fun and pleasure, enjoys the moment and savors experiences. She’s open, curious and relaxed and makes happiness and wellbeing a priority.
To be sure, part of the beauty of being on a vacation is spending time someplace great — and someplace decidedly out of your normal routine and expectations.
But a vacation mindset is something you can bring home with you. Sure, you’ll also have the dishes, laundry, errands and other tasks of everyday life. But who’s to say you can’t inject some of the pleasures of vacation into your day?
Go ahead, eat breakfast on your deck, do sunrise yoga, bring a novel with you to lunch. Explore a new trail or check out a new park, shop or restaurant. Seek out a pool. Invite friends over for a cookout and margaritas. Do something simple but wonderful to enhance your day.
Wherever you happen to be, ask yourself: What would Vacation Me do today? And let this joy-seeking version of yourself take the lead.
