Call us biased, but we think kids who get to grow up in Wisconsin are pretty darn lucky. From our four distinct seasons to our natural and cultural bounty — and, yes, cheese curds, too — here are just a few reasons why.
THE FOUR SEASONS
While we might wish summer stuck around longer and winter were just a tad shorter, the rhythms of our day to day are rooted in the seasons. Spring, summer, fall, winter — each brings not only opportunities for unique adventures but also for traditions to repeat year after year. What’s more, the sense of constant change makes a powerful case for living in the moment.
A DOWN-TO-EARTH VIBE
It’s hard to meet many snobby Wisconsinites. Residents of the state tend to be friendly, welcoming and open-minded, which creates a nice come-as-you-are environment where everyone can feel at home. Pretty good role-modeling, no?
WE’RE THE DAIRY STATE
Good cheese is a given in Wisconsin, and our children will grow up able to testify to the peculiar amazingness of squeaky curds. But even more than that, they’ll come of age with an awareness of and appreciation for where, how and by whom their food is grown.
NATURE ABOUNDS
Home to 15,000 lakes, rivers and streams and fifty state parks, Wisconsin boasts a stunning mix of forest and prairie, plus access to two Great Lakes. Which is all to say you’re never far from a nature fix.
WE’RE MORE THAN A BIT FIT
Despite our (totally accurate) reputation for having outstanding beer and brats, Wisconsin is a vibrantly healthy place. Our cities regularly earn accolades for being bike-friendly, and our capital has even ranked as the fittest city in the country!
OUR SPORTS TEAMS RULE …
Maybe you’re a diehard Wisconsin Badgers backer. Or perhaps you root, root, root for the home team Brewers, Bucks or Green Bay Packers. Or, hopefully, all of the above. The point is, our sports teams are rivaled in awesomeness only by their passionate fans who cheer them on.
BUT SO DOES OUR CULTURE
From the Milwaukee Art Museum to the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art. From American Players Theatre, to the local theater troupes staging shows across the state. From children’s museums to countless festivals and concerts. There’s no shortage of art, entertainment and culture available to families in Wisconsin.
